This researcher was likely at the L7-L8 level at Google, close to director level, and had long been based in the UK. After joining, they will mainly work on pretraining-related matters and will also frequently travel to China on business trips. In the view of a person familiar with the matter, this may be the first time a major domestic company has truly "found the right person" in this round of competition for Gemini talent. The person told Leiphone that several major companies had previously brought in talent from Gemini, but some of those hires had not touched the core. Among them, some only participated in peripheral parts of pre-training/post-training, while others only did management work, with responsibilities that did not cover the most core aspects of pretraining.
