The capsizing of a vessel in Zimbabwe has resulted in 80 deaths, and search and rescue operations are still ongoing.

On the 16th local time, the Zimbabwean police announced that the death toll from the boat capsizing incident on Lake Kariba in northern Zimbabwe on the afternoon of the 11th has risen to 80. The Zimbabwean government reported that when the accident occurred, there were 119 adults on board, along with an unknown number of children. So far, 77 people have been rescued. Search and rescue operations are still underway. As the search progresses, more bodies of victims have been recovered, and the actual number of passengers on the boat has far exceeded the registered count. Zimbabwean President Emmerson Mnangagwa has declared the incident a "national disaster."
