Minister of Ecology and Environment Huang Runqiu went to Zhejiang to investigate ecological and environmental protection work.

From August 14 to 15, Huang Runqiu, Minister of Ecology and Environment, visited Lishui City, Taizhou City, and Ningbo City in Zhejiang Province to conduct research on ecological and environmental protection work. Actively and safely developing nuclear power is an important measure to build a clean, low-carbon, safe, and efficient energy system, and to promote the realization of carbon peak and carbon neutrality. Huang Runqiu visited the Sanmen Nuclear Power Plant in Taizhou City, going deep into the main control room of the operational unit and the nuclear island construction site of the under-construction unit, to learn in detail about the operational status and construction progress of the nuclear power units, and to visit and comfort the on-site supervision personnel from the East China Nuclear and Radiation Safety Supervision Station. He emphasized the need to adhere to a rational, coordinated, and concurrent view of nuclear safety, placing the guarantee of nuclear safety as the top priority, strengthening comprehensive supervision of nuclear power plants, and solidifying the main responsibility for nuclear safety. He urged enterprises to strictly implement nuclear safety laws and standards to ensure the safe operation and controlled construction quality of nuclear power units, enhance equipment stability and reliability, and strengthen radiation environment monitoring at nuclear power plants, ensuring high-level safety to support the high-quality development of the nuclear power industry.
