Morgan Stanley raised SanDisk's rating to "Overweight": AI inference demand drives structural growth in storage.
On August 14, JPMorgan announced that it had upgraded the investment rating of flash memory giant SanDisk from "Neutral" to "Overweight," giving a 12-month target price of $2,250. This target price implies approximately a 47% upside compared to SanDisk's closing price on the previous trading day. JPMorgan analyst Harlan Sur noted in the report that SanDisk has a unique competitive advantage in the current market environment and is expected to fully capture the structural demand inflection point for NAND flash memory driven by rapid growth in AI inference demand. So far this year, the global market for high-performance storage and data center infrastructure has surged due to the accelerated adoption of AI technology, even leading to supply shortages. Driven by this positive outlook, SanDisk's stock price has increased by as much as 544% year-to-date. Analysts believe that the dependency of large AI models on massive data throughput and persistent storage is reshaping the supply-demand landscape for traditional storage chips. With its technological accumulation in the enterprise-grade flash memory sector, SanDisk is expected to continue benefiting from the structural dividends brought about by the expansion of AI computing infrastructure.
