The world is big enough to accommodate the C919 flying alongside Boeing and Airbus.

China is one of the largest civil aviation markets in the world, with constant growth in aviation demand. COMAC predicts that by 2044, the global fleet of passenger aircraft will exceed 50,000, which is 2.05 times the fleet size in 2024. From 2025 to 2044, approximately 74.59% of the new passenger aircraft delivered globally will be single-aisle jets. Currently, the market for active single-aisle mainline aircraft is still dominated by Airbus and Boeing, which hold over 90% of the market share. According to industry research reports, the average annual demand for narrow-body mainline aircraft in China over the next 15 years is about 300 units. With such a large market, the C919 can only cover a small portion of this demand at its current production capacity, not to mention the international market. It is evident that the emergence of the C919 fills a gap in the rapidly growing market; this is not a zero-sum game where one wins and the other loses.
