Zambia's presidential elections have begun voting.

Voting for the Zambian elections began on the 13th, with approximately 8.7 million registered voters casting their ballots to elect the president and members of the National Assembly. The Zambian Electoral Commission has set up over 13,000 polling stations nationwide. Voting started at 6 AM local time on the 13th and is expected to conclude at 6 PM. There are a total of 13 candidates running in this presidential election. The current president, Hakainde Hichilema, is representing the ruling United Party for National Development, while his main opponent is Brian Mundubile from the Patriotic Front. According to the Zambian Electoral Commission, a presidential candidate must receive more than 50% of the votes to win; if no one wins in the first round, the top two candidates will compete in a second round.
