Due to the continuous inflow from upstream of the Ying River in Henan Province, the water level of the Ying River in Anhui Province is rising rapidly. It is expected that on August 15, the flood peak water level at the Fuyang Weir will reach 31.4 meters, which exceeds the warning level by 0.9 meters. The Anhui Provincial Water Resources Department has decided to activate the Cihuai New River to discharge the floodwaters from the Ying River at 11 a.m. on August 13, in an effort to reduce the water level of the Ying River and minimize the flood control pressure in the basin.
