Yardeni raises the S&P 500 index target to the highest on Wall Street while maintaining a target of 10,000 points for 2029.
Ed Yardeni, President and Chief Investment Strategist of Yardeni Research, raised the S&P 500 index target to 8,400 after "exceptionally strong" corporate earnings, marking the highest level on Wall Street. His previous target of 8,250 was already the highest in the industry. Yardeni maintained his target for the S&P 500 to reach 10,000 by 2029. He also upgraded his earnings per share expectations for the S&P 500, raising the 2026 estimate from $330 to $375, and the 2027 estimate from $375 to $415. Yardeni wrote: "We believe that any pullback, even a crash, would be a buying opportunity and would not trigger an economic recession or bear market similar to the tech bubble and its burst from 1999 to 2000." He stated: "We still believe that the probability of a recession leading to a bear market is 20%."
