Emirates Global Aluminium stated that after a large smelter was shut down due to missile and drone attacks from Iran in March this year, it expects to invest approximately $400 million to resume production early next year. Currently, regional businesses are bearing the ripple effects of the war, and the global economy is also under pressure. Emirates Global Aluminium is one of the world's top high-end aluminum producers. The company announced on Wednesday that its Al Taweela facility in Abu Dhabi suffered significant damage during the attack on March 28, forcing an emergency shutdown of production. The facility houses a large electrolytic aluminum smelter as well as a bauxite refinery that supplies raw materials to the smelter. In its half-year financial report, Emirates Global Aluminium stated that it has initiated the process to resume production at the Al Taweela facility, expecting the liquid aluminum capacity to gradually return to pre-attack levels by the first quarter of 2027, with a recovery cost of around $400 million.
