On August 11, 2026, at 5 PM, the Henan Provincial Meteorological Station upgraded its rainstorm alert to orange: Over the past 24 hours, most areas south of the Yellow River in Henan Province have experienced moderate to heavy rain. Some counties in Luoyang, Pingdingshan, Xuchang, Linying, Zhoukou, Nanyang, Zhumadian, and Xinyang have seen heavy rain, with extremely heavy rain reported in certain areas of Zhumadian. The maximum precipitation was recorded at 286.6 mm at Lao Leshan in Quxian County. From 5 PM on the 11th to 5 PM on the 12th, parts of western and southern Anyang, Hebi, Xinxiang, Jiaozuo, Jiyuan, Luoyang, Zhengzhou, Kaifeng, Shangqiu, Pingdingshan, Xuchang, Linying, Zhoukou, Nanyang, and northern and central parts of Zhumadian, as well as western Xinyang, are expected to experience heavy rain. Among these, the southern part of Xinxiang, the eastern and southern parts of Luoyang, Zhengzhou, Kaifeng, Shangqiu, Pingdingshan, Xuchang, Linying, northern and central parts of Zhoukou, and northern parts of Nanyang are likely to see downpours, while southeastern Zhengzhou, southwestern Kaifeng, and central and western parts of Pingdingshan may witness extremely heavy rainfall, accompanied by short bursts of intense precipitation and localized thunderstorms and strong winds.
