U.S. energy companies sue data center developers: passing on electricity costs to the public.

According to news from the U.S. on the 7th, Nevada's largest energy supplier, NV Energy, has officially sued a developer constructing data centers in the state, accusing it of attempting to pass electricity costs onto consumers. It is reported that NV Energy supplies power to 90% of users in Nevada, and the two data centers currently under construction will consume nearly one-third of the total electricity generated by NV Energy once completed. NV Energy demands that the data center developers initiate a $1 billion grid upgrade project. The company warned that if the data center developers do not bear more infrastructure costs, it may raise electricity prices, passing the burden onto ordinary households and businesses in Nevada. In response, the data center developer stated that NV Energy has refused to fulfill its promised power supply services while still demanding that they invest $1 billion to carry out the grid upgrade project.
