The Ministry of Natural Resources has upgraded the marine disaster emergency response in Zhejiang to level II and in Fujian and Shanghai to level III.

According to the Ministry of Natural Resources, this year's No. 9 typhoon "Baipeng" is gradually moving closer to the southeast coast of China. Under its influence, from August 7 to 8, the East China Sea experienced swells of 69 meters, reaching the orange alert level for coastal waters; Zhejiangs nearshore waters saw waves of 35 meters, which also reached the orange warning level. It is expected that within the next 24 hours, there will be a maximum storm surge of 160 centimeters from Nantong, Jiangsu to Wenzhou, Zhejiang, with giant to stormy waves of 58 meters in Zhejiangs nearshore waters, posing a red alert level for waves. According to the "Marine Disaster Emergency Plan," on August 8, the Ministry of Natural Resources upgraded the marine disaster emergency response in Zhejiang to Level II and the emergency response levels in Fujian and Shanghai to Level III. The relevant natural resource authorities in the affected provinces of Zhejiang, Shanghai, Fujian, and Jiangsu are required to organize emergency monitoring, consultations and assessments, forecasts and warnings, as well as disaster investigation and evaluation. Due to the impact of this typhoon event, the East China Sea is experiencing strong winds and high waves, resulting in severe sea conditions. Vessels engaged in maritime operations are advised to stay away from dangerous waters, and relevant coastal units should take preventive measures against tidal surges and waves in advance to effectively counter the risk of seawater backflow.
