This week, the Ningbo Shipping Exchange released the Maritime Silk Road Index, with the Ningbo Export Container Freight Index closing at 2423.1 points, an increase of 3.2% compared to last week. Among the 21 shipping routes, 12 saw an increase in the freight index, 8 experienced a decline, and 1 remained basically unchanged. In the main ports along the "Maritime Silk Road," 12 ports saw an increase in their freight index, while 4 ports reported a decrease. Additionally, there was significant volatility in the South America West Route market this week: due to some sailings being suspended at the beginning of the month, cabin space continued to remain tight, coupled with major shipping lines imposing peak season surcharges, leading to a substantial rise in freight rates. The freight index for the South America West Route was 2281.5 points, up 16.3% from last week.
