Some banks have lowered mortgage rates to the "2-digit range."
Recently, several homebuyers on social media shared screenshots of their mortgage rates hovering around 2%, sparking heated discussions. Journalists found that these housing loans are mostly existing loans with a five-year term. On August 6, reporters visited or contacted multiple banks in Beijing, Guangzhou, and Hangzhou for research and discovered that most banks still have mortgage rates at 3% or higher. Some foreign banks can offer housing loans with rates below 2.8%, but they have set multiple thresholds for customer qualifications and collaboration channels. Additionally, some banks indicated that while they cannot lower the loan interest rates, they can provide homebuyers with certain discounts on property prices through cooperative projects.
