FIFA leadership fully supports Infantino
On August 5 local time, FIFA leadership held a crisis meeting in Morocco. According to a statement released after the meeting, several senior officials of FIFA reaffirmed their "full support" for President Gianni Infantino. Additionally, UK Sky News reported that FIFA recently issued a letter co-signed by Infantino and Secretary General Fatma Samoura, acknowledging that there were "errors" in the process of launching the World Cup investment program, and publicly apologized for the related mistakes. The report stated that this was Infantino's first public apology since he announced and then retracted a plan to sell part of the equity in the World Cup and other events to private investors. FIFA stated that it will conduct the necessary review and submit a relevant report at the next meeting of the FIFA Council.
