On the evening of August 5, local time, the Yemeni Houthi forces stated that they launched missiles at a Saudi oil tanker in the Gulf of Aden. It was reported that "the missile hit the target, forcing the tanker to turn back." The Houthi forces declared in a statement that this attack was part of the implementation of a "maritime shipping ban" against Saudi Arabia and the enforcement of measures to "respond to a blockade with a blockade." The Houthi forces "will continue to monitor all movements of Saudi tankers, and until the relevant blockade is lifted, Saudi tankers will not be allowed to pass through the Red Sea north-south route." Earlier that day, the Houthi forces also claimed to have launched a missile attack on a Saudi tanker near the Saudi Red Sea port city of Yanbu. The Saudi side has not yet confirmed these two incidents. The Houthi spokesperson did not specify the exact timing of the attacks. (CCTV International News)
