The Hualong One 2.0 version demonstration project has been approved by the state.

On July 31, a reporter learned from the China National Nuclear Power Research and Design Institute that the State Council's executive meeting held that day approved four nuclear power projects: Zhejiang Jin Qimen Nuclear Power Phase II, Guangdong Taipingling Nuclear Power Phase III, Liaoning Zhuanghe Nuclear Power Phase I, and Shandong Laiyang Nuclear Power Phase I, totaling eight units. Among them, six units of Zhejiang Jin Qimen Nuclear Power Phase II, Guangdong Taipingling Nuclear Power Phase III, and Liaoning Zhuanghe Nuclear Power Phase I employ the Hualong One nuclear power technology. Zhejiang Jin Qimen Nuclear Power Phase II and Guangdong Taipingling Nuclear Power Phase III have been explicitly identified as demonstration projects for the Hualong One 2.0 version. Hualong One is China's million-kilowatt class third-generation pressurized water reactor nuclear power technology with completely independent intellectual property rights and is hailed as a "national business card." Hualong One has distinctive "Sichuan genes." The main equipment of its nuclear island is developed and designed by the China National Nuclear Power Research and Design Institute located in Chengdu. The institute has also independently developed core control and instrumentation equipment, such as the "Dragon Scale" safety-grade DCS system and the rod control rod position system, which has achieved large-scale application at the Zhangzhou Nuclear Power Base for the first time, creating a fully independently controllable "nerve center" for Hualong One. CF nuclear fuel has opened up the entire chain from source innovation to industry implementation, establishing a complete ecological industry system for nuclear fuel autonomy, achieving a linkage between R&D design in Chengdu and production manufacturing in Yibin.
