The first phase of the "Hualong One" project in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area has been fully completed.

Today, the Unit 2 of the China General Nuclear Power Corporation's (CGN) Guangdong Taipingling Nuclear Power Project officially commenced power generation, marking the full completion and operation of the first phase of the "Hualong One" nuclear power project in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. The Unit 2, which is now generating power, utilizes the "Hualong One" third-generation nuclear technology with entirely independent intellectual property rights, boasting a domestic equipment localization rate exceeding 90%, and a rated power output of approximately 1,200 megawatts per unit. It is understood that the Taipingling Nuclear Power Project is planned to construct six "Hualong One" nuclear power units. Once all six units are completed, they will be capable of providing approximately 55 billion kilowatt-hours of clean electricity annually, equivalent to a reduction in standard coal consumption of about 16.52 million tons and a decrease in carbon dioxide emissions of approximately 50.82 million tons.
