The monthly survey released by the European Central Bank on Friday showed that consumers expect prices to rise by 3% in the next year, lower than the 3.5% expected in May. The three-year inflation expectation index, which is more important for monetary policy formulation, decreased from 2.9% to 2.8%. The survey was conducted from June 4th to 29th when the United States and Iran signed a memorandum of understanding after a ceasefire. However, the ceasefire did not last, and hostilities broke out again this month. Another survey released by the European Central Bank on Friday, targeting professional forecasting institutions, showed that market expectations for inflation have not changed much compared to the first quarter, but expectations for economic growth in 2026 have almost halved.
