Five mandatory national standards for the photovoltaic industry have been issued, and the highest elimination rate for outdated production capacity of polysilicon is 60%.

At the "Photovoltaic Industry Development Review and Outlook Seminar for the First Half of 2026 and the Second Half" hosted by the China Photovoltaic Industry Association, Secretary-General Pei Huichuan of the National Solar Photovoltaic Energy System Standardization Technical Committee introduced the latest progress in the standardization system construction. He stated that in May of this year, two mandatory national standards, "Photovoltaic Module Safety Requirements" and "Photovoltaic Module Labeling Requirements," were released; in June, three mandatory national standards for polycrystalline silicon, monocrystalline silicon energy consumption limits, and component inverter efficiency limits were issued. The five mandatory standards form a system, layered and fully covering from silicon materials, silicon wafers to components, and inverters to establish a quality and safety bottom line. It is estimated that the polycrystalline silicon energy consumption standard is expected to eliminate 25% to 60% of outdated production capacity, monocrystalline silicon about 30%, and components about 20%. Pei Huichuan revealed that the upcoming classification industry standards for photovoltaic products will be complemented by mandatory standards, forming a pattern of "mandatory standards setting the bottom line, classification raising the standard."
