Contemporary Amperex Technology's "sky-high lithium mine" environmental impact assessment has been accepted. It will co-build a tailings storage facility with subsidiaries of Tianqi Lithium and Tianfu Lithium, and the operation is expected to start in 2028.

CATL took a crucial step towards production by reorganizing and acquiring the Yajiang Sinowe lithium mine. Recently, the Ganzi State Ecological and Environmental Bureau accepted and announced the environmental impact assessment report for the construction project of the Yajiang Sinowe new energy lithium mine development project. This marks a key milestone for the production of the "sky-high lithium mine" valued at over 6.4 billion yuan, which has received high attention in the market. According to the environmental impact assessment report, the Sinowe project will have a mining scale of 1.5 million tons per year. Sinowe Mining Development Co., Ltd. has already signed an agreement with a processing plant, with the processing address located in Meishan. The construction of the tailings pond in the Jiamikar mining area has become a key bottleneck in the project's implementation. Currently, Sinowe Mining has reached cooperation agreements with Tianqi Lithium's Tianqi Shenghe, and Sichuan Province's Natural Resources Investment Group's Tianfu Lithium. The three parties plan to jointly build the "Jiamikar No.1 tailings pond" and it is expected to be completed by 2028. However, a person familiar with Sinowe Mining mentioned that even if things progress smoothly, the project is unlikely to go into full production until 2029 at the earliest.
