The latest global individual investor survey released by HSBC Group in 2026 shows that mainland investors are actively adjusting their asset allocation, actively reducing cash holdings, and increasing their allocation to growth assets such as stocks and private equity. Thanks to the impressive performance of the A-share market in the previous year, the proportion of mainland investors' stock allocation has increased most prominently among all asset classes, from 10% in the previous year to 18%. In terms of asset allocation preferences, the main asset allocation categories for mainland investors are stocks, gold, and regular deposits or savings. Looking ahead to the next 12 months, mainland investors generally hope to increase the complexity and risk resistance of their investment portfolios, and plan to focus on increasing their investment layout in the direction of insurance products, managed wealth solutions, and managed investments.
