SoftBank Group announced on Wednesday that they will begin operating a new information platform called GaranAI, which will gather article data from news agencies and publishers and process it into a format that can be used by generative artificial intelligence. Content creators, including newspapers such as Nikkei, Asahi, Kyodo, and some local newspapers, will provide content to GaranAI and receive compensation accordingly. SoftBank will convert the content into a data format that is difficult to restore to its original form, further process it into data that is more user-friendly for AI, and then sell it to AI developers to help improve the accuracy of AI responses to user queries. SoftBank released a trial version of the platform on Wednesday and started accepting applications from AI developers. The operators plan to continue improving the platform over the next six months and launch the official version in January next year or later. The company also plans to expand the platform to receive copyrighted content from a wider range of fields.
