According to CBS News, US House Speaker Mike Johnson refused to give a clear answer when asked if he would push for a vote on the Authorization for the Use of Military Force. However, he said that the US-Iran war needs to end and that the US should also receive support from other countries to facilitate the end of the war. Johnson stated that he believes political figures should "give the government space" to negotiate an end to the war. He said, "I know that this administration is working around the clock to find a solution to this issue in a way that avoids more casualties for US troops." However, Johnson emphasized once again that the US must ensure that Iran does not have nuclear weapons.
