On July 21, 2026, at 19:43, a 5.0 magnitude earthquake occurred in Mojiang Hani Autonomous County, Pu'er City, Yunnan Province, with a depth of 6 kilometers. The Ministry of Water Resources immediately activated the water resources anti-seismic and disaster relief dispatch command mechanism, held a special consultation meeting to analyze the impact of the earthquake on water resources engineering and rural water supply, assessed the rainfall situation in the earthquake-hit areas, and arranged and deployed water resources anti-seismic and disaster relief work. Based on the analysis of the national "Water Resources Map," the Ministry of Water Resources identified the distribution of water resources engineering such as rivers, reservoirs, hydropower stations, dams, and rural water supply projects in the earthquake-hit areas, and promptly notified the Yunnan Provincial Water Resources Department to instruct local authorities to immediately assess the damage to the engineering projects. The Pu'er City Water Affairs Bureau in Yunnan Province has activated its earthquake emergency response, dispatched expert groups to guide the survey work. Currently, the water situation in the earthquake-hit areas is stable, and there have been no reports of damage to water resources engineering.
