The Deputy Prime Minister of Croatia said that the African swine fever epidemic in the country is "very serious".
Croatia's Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, Frane Franievi, said at a press conference on the 18th that the current situation of African swine fever in the country is "very grave", with 12 new cases reported in just one day. Franievi said that the African swine fever situation in Croatia is showing signs of accelerated spread, with a total of 89 reported cases, one third of which occurred in just a few days. In the prevention process, 2822 pigs have been culled, and if the momentum of the epidemic cannot be effectively contained, the number of culled pigs in the future will rise significantly. He explained that the Croatian government has invested over 50 million euros since 2023 to respond to this crisis.
