Wang Huning, member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and Chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, paid an official friendly visit to North Korea.

At the invitation of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea and the government of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, Wang Huning, member of the Politburo of the Communist Party of China and Chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, led a Chinese party and government delegation to make an official friendly visit to North Korea from July 15 to 17. During the visit, he met with Kim Jong Un, General Secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea and Chairman of the State Affairs Commission, and attended a reception commemorating the 65th anniversary of the signing of the Sino-North Korean Friendship, Mutual Assistance Treaty with Pak Pong Ju, member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea and Vice Chairman of the State Affairs Commission, and Prime Minister of the Cabinet. He also held talks with Zhao Yongyuan, member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea, Secretary of the Central Committee, and Minister of the Organization and Guidance Department.
