The Ministry of Emergency Management dispatched a work team to Chongqing Pengshui County to coordinate the emergency rescue and response to the mountain collapse, and activated a Level II national geological disaster emergency response. The work team rushed to the scene to provide guidance for the rescue and disposal operations.

On July 17th around 9 o'clock, a mountain collapse occurred near Wujiang Sanqiao in Hanjia Street, Pengshui County, Chongqing, causing houses to collapse and trapping some people. The Ministry of Emergency Management has initiated a second-level national emergency response to geological disasters, Minister Zhang Chengzhong led a working group to the scene to guide rescue operations. Upon receiving the report, Zhang Chengzhong immediately dispatched and deployed emergency rescue work, demanding full efforts to search and rescue the trapped individuals, quickly confirm the number of people, scientifically carry out the rescue, and prevent secondary disasters. Deputy Minister Xu Jiaai continued to coordinate. The Ministry of Emergency Management dispatched 100 professional rescue personnel from the Natural Disaster Emergency Rescue Center with equipment to the scene. A total of 206 personnel and 49 vehicles from the national comprehensive fire rescue team have also been dispatched to the scene for rescue operations.
