Due to the sharp increase in orders for wafer foundry services and the internal pressure on engineering manpower, Samsung Electronics is considering outsourcing the back-end design of Google's 2-nanometer Tensor Processing Unit (TPU) input/output die (I/ODie) to external partners. Several industry insiders revealed that Samsung recently contacted its design solution partner (DSP) to inquire about their intention to take on the back-end design business for Google's 10th generation TPU I/ODie. This TPU, codenamed "Icefish," will be manufactured using Samsung's 2-nanometer process technology.
