National Health Insurance Administration: By the end of the agreement period in 2025, negotiations will cover drug reimbursement for 248 million people.
On July 16, the National Medical Insurance Administration released the "Statistical Bulletin on the Development of National Medical Security Industry by 2025". The bulletin shows that the "National Basic Medical Insurance, Work Injury Insurance, and Maternity Insurance Drug List" includes a total of 3253 kinds of Western medicine and traditional Chinese medicine, including 1857 kinds of Western medicine and 1396 kinds of traditional Chinese medicine. 114 new drugs were included in 2025. Since the establishment of the National Medical Insurance Administration in 2018, the medical insurance drug list has been adjusted annually, with a total of 949 new drugs added to the list. 2.48 billion prescriptions of negotiated drugs will be reimbursed during the agreement period in 2025. In 2025, the "Commercial Health Insurance Innovative Drug List" was added, focusing on high levels of innovation, significant clinical value, patient benefits, and innovative drugs that go beyond the scope of basic medical insurance coverage. The first version of the list includes 19 drugs.
