According to a report by Japan's Yomiuri Shimbun, SoftBank Group Chairman and CEO Masayoshi Son stated at the annual conference "SoftBank World" held in Tokyo on Tuesday that it is estimated that by 2040, there will be 100 trillion AI intelligent agents and 1 billion humanoid robots. AI will become "the largest industry in human history." He pointed out that by 2040, AI will contribute around 20% of global GDP and said, "With 100 trillion AI intelligent agents interacting with each other, society will shift to being centered around intelligent agents rather than humans, and the world order will be completely changed."
Regarding the impact of humanoid robots, Son said that robots can operate 24 hours a day, equivalent to the labor force of 3 billion people, and perform tasks faster, more accurately, and more precisely, making them the core of the workforce. He also emphasized that expanding data centers is a key to achieving this vision, and it is estimated that by 2040, electricity consumption will double, requiring an annual investment of around $50 trillion (80 trillion yen).
In terms of future business strategy, Son stated that the AI revolution should not be limited to Japan and resources should be focused on the United States, which is the core battlefield.
