Japanese KFC is reducing its menu or suffering from interruptions in its logistics system, which is affecting the delivery of ingredients.
Japanese KFC announced that one of its logistics partners' systems had malfunctioned, causing nationwide delays in food delivery to stores. The brand may reduce the variety of items available for sale. The fast food giant stated that the system of its partner had been illegally breached, affecting its delivery operations. As a result, stores may experience shortages of ingredients, menu simplification, and changes in operating hours. Online ordering and delivery services for KFC have also been temporarily suspended. A KFC spokesperson called the media to say, "The situation is currently unstable. The situation with food delivery to stores varies, and at this stage, we cannot determine the exact number of affected stores and items." In recent times, Japanese companies have faced a series of cybersecurity and information technology issues, adding another example with this incident. Asahi Group, Ezaki Glico, and other food companies have recently been targeted by cyberattacks, resulting in disruptions to their supply chains, production lines, and customer services.
