The ship traffic in the Hormuz Strait has been consistently low.
MarineTraffic shipping data platform statistics show that in the past 24 hours of mutual attacks between the US and Iran, at least 15 commercial ships have passed through the Strait of Hormuz. Among them, a total of 11 vessels entered the Persian Gulf, including 6 cargo ships and 5 oil tankers; another 4 cargo ships crossed the strait into the Gulf of Oman. This data is consistent with the persistently low levels of shipping in recent weeks, with only a brief rebound during the US-Iran negotiations. Before the conflict erupted, an average of about 110 ships passed through the strait daily. This area has been experiencing GPS signal deception interference for several months, which can cause significant deviations in the positioning reported by vessels. However, there are no signs of tampering found in the positioning signals of the vessels passing through this time.
