The APEC Ministerial Meeting on Forestry will be held on July 27th and 28th, 2026.
Journalists learned from today's press conference of the National Forestry and Grassland Administration that, as one of the APEC China Year series of activities, under the guidance of the Ministry of Natural Resources, the National Forestry and Grassland Administration, the People's Government of Guangdong Province, and the People's Government of Shenzhen will hold the APEC Ministerial Meeting on Forestry in Shenzhen on July 27-28. The theme of the meeting is "Building a Green Asia-Pacific, Sharing Ecological Well-being". The forest area in the Asia-Pacific region accounts for more than half of the global total, contributing to about 60% of global forest product production and 40% of forest product trade. It is the most ecologically rich region in terms of land and coastal ecosystems, and has nearly half of the global mangrove resources. Forests are a solid barrier for ecological security in the Asia-Pacific region and a strong support for people's well-being. They play an irreplaceable role in addressing climate change, protecting biodiversity, and improving livelihoods. The resource endowments and development stages of various economies in the region vary significantly, especially with the continuous acceleration of urbanization. All economies face the common challenges of global climate change, forest degradation, and biodiversity loss, and urgently need to promote development through technological innovation, forest management, and regional cooperation. Against this background, this Ministerial Meeting on Forestry builds a high-level dialogue platform to consolidate consensus, join hands in action, and has triple positive significance: First, based on the overall global ecological governance, contribute Asia-Pacific wisdom and solutions; second, based on the overall regional sustainable development, consolidate unified actions to build a clean and beautiful Asia-Pacific; third, create a sustainable multilateral cooperation platform to promote practical actions and results on the ground.
