In the first half of the year, the national medical insurance system recovered a total of 16.35 billion yuan in medical insurance funds.

Today, the National Medical Insurance Administration held a routine press conference to introduce the work of national medical security in the first half of 2026. The relevant person in charge of the National Medical Insurance Administration introduced that from January to June, the national medical insurance system conducted on-site inspections of 330,000 designated medical institutions, handled 280,000 illegal institutions, recovered 16.35 billion yuan of medical insurance funds, and dealt with 130,000 illegal personnel. They also disclosed 16,000 typical cases. Medical insurance departments at all levels conducted in-depth flying inspections. They coordinated annual flying inspections, special flying inspections, and targeted flying inspections, advancing national flying inspections, provincial flying inspections, and inter-city cross inspections, focusing on regions with higher risks in the operation of funds, key areas such as orthopedics, hemodialysis, and medical tests, and institutions with relatively concentrated problem clues, carrying out comprehensive flying inspections. From January to June, national flying inspections covered all provinces, inspecting 2,926 designated medical institutions in 227 cities and uncovering 1.16 billion yuan of suspected illegal activities.
