In 2025, the number of people insured under the national maternity insurance program will be 260 million.

According to the statistics of the National Medical Insurance Bureau, by 2025, there will be 260 million people participating in the national maternity insurance, with 4.8064 million people receiving subsidies, and an average maternity subsidy for female workers of nearly 30,000 yuan. This year, efforts will continue to expand the coverage of the maternity insurance system, promote full participation of employees in the system, and fully implement the policy of having the unemployment insurance fund pay the maternity insurance fees. Focus will be on key groups such as flexible employment personnel, migrant workers, and those in new employment forms, breaking the restriction that only employees in formal employment can enjoy maternity insurance benefits. Local governments will vigorously encourage these individuals to participate in maternity insurance while participating in the employee medical insurance, allowing mothers to not only reimburse maternity medical expenses but also to enjoy paid maternity leave. Currently, 156 areas in 20 provinces across the country are implementing and promoting this system.
