On his way back to the United States from Turkey, Trump made a stop in the UK and switched to a new Air Force One plane.
President Donald Trump, on his way back to the United States from Turkey, made a special mid-journey switch at a military base in the UK. Trump had previously traveled to Ankara, Turkey for a NATO summit on a new Boeing 747-8 "Air Force One" plane gifted by Qatar. However, before Trump left Turkey, the plane was sent ahead to RAF Mildenhall in the UK. Trump then flew from Ankara to the UK on an older version of "Air Force One." Upon arrival at Mildenhall, Trump disembarked, briefly met with American troops stationed there, crossed the tarmac, and boarded the new plane gifted by Qatar to continue the flight to Washington. Earlier on Wednesday, Trump first revealed the arrangement on social media, stating that the reason for sending the new plane to Mildenhall ahead of time was to showcase it to the American military personnel at the local base.
