The Sudanese armed forces have announced the recapture of a major border town in the southeast.
The Sudanese armed forces announced on the 8th that they have recaptured the border town of Kormuk in the southeastern state of Blue Nile. A spokesperson for the Sudanese armed forces office stated that on the morning of that day, after fierce fighting, the Sudanese armed forces successfully drove out the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces and their allies, the Sudan People's Liberation Movement, from Kormuk. The enemy suffered heavy losses in personnel and equipment, and the Sudanese armed forces seized large quantities of weapons and vehicles. The statement also said that in the next phase, the priority will be to protect the local civilians, restore basic services, and reiterated the commitment to continue the fight until the Rapid Support Forces and their supporters are "completely eliminated." The Rapid Support Forces and their allies have not responded to the above statement.
