In the second quarter, the "water withdrawal" effect of capital outflow from private credit funds became more significant. Investors tried to withdraw more funds, but actually received less money back. In the second quarter, investors requested redemptions of $15.6 billion from widely held private credit funds, compared to approximately $13.9 billion in the previous quarter. Data from investment bank Robert A. Stanger shows that despite redemption requests continuing to rise, fund managers only redeemed $5.9 billion in the second quarter, less than the $7.4 billion agreed to in the previous quarter.
