Due to Trump's tariffs, an aluminum smelting plant in Missouri, USA, will resume production at the end of the year after being shut down for two years.
According to foreign media reports, a closed aluminum smelter in Missouri, USA will resume production by the end of this year, which will help increase US aluminum production amid the Trump administration's efforts to revitalize domestic industry. Magnitude 7 Metals will restart a portion of the smelter's capacity, adding approximately 75,000 metric tons to its annual production. A memorandum states that the company attributes this restart to the aluminum tariffs implemented by President Trump under Section 232, which target imported aluminum products used in the automotive, beverage can, and construction industries. The smelter ceased operations in 2024.
