According to foreign media reports, an aluminum smelter in Missouri that had been shut down is set to resume production by the end of this year. Against the backdrop of the Trump administration's efforts to revitalize domestic industry, this will help increase aluminum production in the United States. Magnitude 7 Metals will restart part of the smelter's capacity, adding approximately 75,000 metric tons of annual production. A memorandum indicates that the company attributes this restart to President Trump's aluminum tariffs implemented under Section 232, which target imported aluminum products used in the automotive, canning, and construction industries. The aluminum smelter ceased operations in 2024.
