London Stock Exchange: The Korean won approaches its lowest level since 2009.

The Korean won against the US dollar is approaching its lowest level in 17 years. Data from the London Stock Exchange Group shows that the US dollar rose to around 1,559 Korean won on the first trading day of July, earlier hitting around 1,562 Korean won in June, the highest level since 2009. Data shows that on March 6, 2009, the US dollar against the Korean won was at 1,596.90 Korean won. KB Kookmin Bank foreign exchange economist Lee Min-hyeok said in a report, "Strong US employment data and higher interest rates continue to support the US dollar." Lee added, "In terms of supply and demand, foreign investors selling stocks and exporters converting their US dollar income into Korean won are still in a tug of war."
