According to data from the National Bureau of Statistics, China produced 72.969 million tons of pig iron in May 2026, a decrease of 2.6% year-on-year, an increase of 3.2% month-on-month; accumulated production of pig iron from January to May was 354.71 million tons, a decrease of 3.1% year-on-year. In May, China produced 84.355 million tons of crude steel, a decrease of 2.7% year-on-year, an increase of 0.9% month-on-month; accumulated production of crude steel from January to May was 415.529 million tons, a decrease of 3.9% year-on-year. In May, China produced 123.029 million tons of steel, a decrease of 2.8% year-on-year, an increase of 0.3% month-on-month; accumulated production of steel from January to May was 592.99 million tons, a decrease of 1.5% year-on-year.
