Southern Airlines Group: Summer peak season plan to operate over 190,000 flights.
The China Southern Airlines Group plans to operate more than 190,000 flights (round trip counted as two flights) between July 1 and August 31, with over 3,000 flights per day. Domestically, China Southern Airlines will increase capacity on popular tourist routes in Xinjiang, Northeast China, Northwest China, and Southwest China. The airline will also add and increase multiple domestic routes at major hubs such as Guangzhou, Beijing Daxing, and Urumqi, and deploy wide-body aircraft on some popular summer routes to increase capacity. Internationally, during the summer travel period, the airline plans to operate over 130 routes, with a focus on increasing frequency of flights to Europe, Africa, Southeast Asia, and Central and West Asia. It was also reported that several popular routes from Shanghai will be added during the summer. China Southern Airlines will add a direct flight from Shanghai Hongqiao to Changsha, with 3 flights per week; add a direct flight from Shanghai Pudong to Hohhot, with 1 flight per day; and resume the direct flight from Shanghai Pudong to Altay, with 3 flights per week. In response to the peak summer tourism season in Xinjiang, wide-body aircraft will be deployed on the Shanghai to Urumqi route to meet passenger demand. Some flights from Pudong to Seoul will also be operated by wide-body aircraft to handle the growing inflow and outflow of passengers.
