Jefferies stated that the recent sell-off in copper mining stocks could be a "gift" for those looking to buy on the dip. The firm said that despite recent price fluctuations, they remain bullish on copper. "While volatility may continue throughout the summer, we expect a strong recovery by the end of the year," the firm wrote. Jefferies acknowledged that inflation is a short-term risk, causing regular investors to be cautious about the sector. The firm added that the market will also face some typical seasonal weakness from July to September. "But in our view, this is temporary, as the real commodity cycle will not end until massive supply comes online to meet demand growth," Jefferies stated. "Our analysis shows that we are still far from that point in copper."
