The Ministry of Natural Resources has initiated a Level III geological disaster response in Sichuan and dispatched experts to the earthquake-affected area in Yibin.
According to the China Earthquake Networks Center, a 5.5 magnitude earthquake occurred in Gaoh County, Yibin City, Sichuan Province at 0:12 on June 29, with a depth of 6 kilometers. To ensure preparedness for potential secondary geological disasters caused by the earthquake, the Ministry of Natural Resources activated a Level III response for geological disaster prevention in Sichuan on June 29 at 5 am. Experts were sent to the earthquake-affected area to assist in guiding local authorities in emergency rescue and relief efforts, secondary geological disaster investigations, and emergency response. The Ministry of Natural Resources instructed the Sichuan Provincial Department of Natural Resources to promptly conduct inspections and investigations, effectively carry out monitoring and warning, consultation and judgment, disaster and risk response, and on-duty tasks, as well as information reporting. The China Geological Survey and the Geological Disaster Technical Guidance Center of the Ministry of Natural Resources strengthened consultation and judgment and expert dispatching, to fully support local efforts in geological disaster prevention.
