On June 26, the 20th meeting of the 62nd session of the United Nations Human Rights Council was held. M Jinfng, Counsellor of the Permanent Mission of China in Geneva, stated in his speech that a strong earthquake recently occurred in Venezuela. China expresses sincere condolences to the Venezuelan government and the affected people, and will provide emergency humanitarian assistance. M Jinfng believes that the people of Venezuela will definitely overcome the disaster and rebuild their homes soon. He pointed out that China's position on the issue of Venezuela has always been consistent and clear, firmly upholding the UN Charter and the basic principles of international relations, opposing military attacks on Venezuela, unilateral sanctions, and interference in Venezuela's internal affairs. China appreciates the efforts and positive developments made by the Venezuelan government to promote and protect human rights. M Jinfng emphasized that the unilateral sanctions imposed on Venezuela by certain countries severely hinder economic and social development and seriously affect the basic human rights of the Venezuelan people, and should be lifted immediately.
