Mark Gurman: Touchscreen MacBook to be launched with M5 chip, Apple plans to skip M6 Pro and M6 Max
On June 26th local time, tech journalist Mark Gurman wrote that the rumored touchscreen MacBook Pro from Apple is expected to be released later this year or early in 2027, initially equipped with the current M5 Pro and M5 Max chips. Apple is planning to release an upgraded version with the M7 chip afterwards, which aligns with previous reports of Apple skipping the M6 Pro and M6 Max and going directly to the M7 series. The decision by Apple to skip the high-end M6 chip is believed to be closely related to cost pressures caused by memory shortages, leading Apple to announce price increases for Mac and iPad products this week.
