Mercedes-Benz extends bonus payments, German employees' annual working hours increase by 260 hours.
The car media CarScoops published a blog post yesterday, reporting that Mercedes-Benz is adjusting the working hours of its German employees, increasing their weekly hours from 35 to 40 without additional pay. In terms of bonuses, Mercedes-Benz originally planned to distribute special bonuses to around 90,000 employees in July, amounting to approximately 18% of their monthly salary. However, the latest news indicates that Mercedes-Benz plans to postpone this until 2027. In terms of changes to working hours, it is reported that Mercedes-Benz plans to adjust the weekly hours of German employees from the original 35 hours to 40 hours. Without additional pay from Mercedes, employees will end up working about 260 extra hours per year. This adjustment comes amid significant cost pressure faced by the automotive industry, with factors such as tariffs and lower-than-expected demand for electric vehicles leading to Mercedes-Benz experiencing substantial cost pressures.
