Aqib E. Mehboob, research director at BSF Capital based in Saudi Arabia, said that with the weak oil prices dragging down market sentiment in the region, most stock markets in the Gulf region have fallen. He mentioned that the strength of the US dollar is also affecting the markets through global risk appetite, foreign capital flows, and financing conditions. There are signs that traffic through the Hormuz Strait is resuming, causing oil prices to plummet. The Qatar QE Index fell by 0.8%, while the Saudi Tadawul All Share Index and the Abu Dhabi benchmark index both fell by 0.3%. The Dubai Financial Market Composite Index rose by 0.1%.
